Beautiful Kate! I just discovered cacao nibs a few months ago and I really like the coffeeish flavor and crunch they add to baked goods. I made some banana muffins studded with them and loved the results!

Oh dear Kate, it's all I can do not to throw my hands up jubilantly (sp?) and shout HOORAY!! after reading this post. What a world we are wrapped up in! This crazy food-blogging world. I've hardly had time to COOK lately, let alone capture it in "perfect" photos & write up the ingredients. This does make me a little sad, as I get so much joy from sharing what I eat with others (and vice versa). But sometimes, it's time to rest, and receive.

Thank you thank you for this. I sincerely hope that more & more food writers will come out of the shadows and say the same thing, in their own way. Let's all keep sharing what we eat, both online & off.

Love you!

What a beautiful flow of words, phrases, and I could almost feel your fear. You are such a good writer, Kate! I started going to a 8-month a year (weekly) bible study called CBS (Community Bible Study) that has outposts around the world. It's non-denominational. Mine is a women's group. This last year (I've been doing it for 2) was just a revelation (no pun intended), what joy and love can come from a varied group of Christian women of all ages who share the word and bare their souls. And that's kind of what it takes to meld the group. I salute you for overcoming your fear.

I love this post and I love the posts I've read and I'm always happy to see what you post next on Instagram. You really have an eye for beauty in the ordinary everyday and my mouth waters over all of your food...even the stuff I've never heard of. ;)

Hi Kate - I have that book (given to me by a friend) and started it some months ago, then got distracted and put it aside. It was quite riveting, at least what I'd read. I've heard (maybe it was part of an amazon review? don't remember) that the author has taken a whole lot of literary and industry heat, some totally refuting his theories. I'll have to dig it out and start reading it again. I did go so far as to look at the ridiculously fine print on the back of olive oil bottles to read where the oil came from. One very well known label said (on the front) that it was Tuscan olive oil, when in fact most of the oil was from Morocco, Spain and Italy was way down the list. I'm buying mostly California labels or from olive oil bars these days, but that may not be any more reliable.

Nice job, Kate! Let's all resolve to include some reality shots in our blog entries. At our house, we joke about my ability to dirty every pot in the kitchen. I also enjoy backing up and taking a photo of the food but also the setup:lights and reflectors, etc... because they show the reality.
